"Living Water"

We’ve just come off of a waterlogged weekend at the Grose abode.  Rick rented a power washer and let me say, somebody named that thing accurately.  It could take the hide off the ‘possums we have around here.  I mean to tell you, that thing has some power!

Our wooden deck has developed a green tinge over the last couple of summers.  The handmade wooden picnic table on the patio that a dear elder in our church made for us years ago was starting to match the deck.  Yuck!  We knew the wood underneath the yuck on the deck and the table was in great shape and both had been well constructed so there wasn’t a thing wrong with them, they just needed some yuck removed.

I can identify, how about you?  The yuck can start working its way over me pretty quickly. Now my yuck may not look like your yuck but we all have yuck.  Right about now, some dear reader is thinking, “But you don’t know what I’ve done.”  You’re right; I don’t know what you’ve done.  Doesn’t really matter. You don’t know what I’ve done.  You don’t know what your preacher’s done or what your Bible class teacher’s done or what your worship leader’s done but we’ve all “done”.  We’ve all just “done.”

The point isn’t so much that we’ve all “done”, the question is, what in the world am I going to do with all of it?  And it creeps up so quickly, doesn’t it.  Borderline TV shows, romance novels, music with suggestive lyrics, “innocent” flirting, prescription meds, gossip, cranky pants (isn’t that what everyone calls it when you just decide to be cranky cause you can?), pride, lust (someone is saying right now, “What? Women don’t lust.”  Really???), laziness, bitterness, an unforgiving heart…and the list is as long as a Thanksgiving dinner shopping list.

Sometimes we just need a power wash.  The yuck of Satan’s lies become embedded in our minds and, before you know it, our behavior starts to follow our thoughts.  It’s like the proverbial frog dropped in the pan of cold water on the stove.  The fire under the pan is gradually increased and pretty soon the frog is ready to serve on a platter and he never even realized he was getting hot.

I meet a lot of women during the course of the year and I can tell you not a single sweet gal that is all tangled up in sin ever started out intending to get yucky.  She never meant for “it” to happen, truly she didn’t.  But here she is.  She’s “done” and she feels like yuck.

Dear one, there is a power wash of the most cleansing kind about to rip that yuck right off your soul.  Jesus offers living water and I guarantee you, when the water of His Spirit washes you, you are one clean chick!  If you’ve never experienced His cleansing power to wash away your sins, there is a story of pure love that you need to hear.  If there is a Godly woman that works with you or lives near you or a member of your family that loves the Lord, ask them to tell you about the love of Jesus.  If you don’t know someone, you just let me know and I would be delighted to tell you about the One who lives to love you.

To my sisters who have been washed by His saving grace but know the green has started to appear, confess it to your God.  Tell Him what you’ve “done”.  Get face down on the floor and ask Him to help you want to stop what you’re doing.  Get rid of everything (everyone?) that makes you want to do your “done” and then immerse yourself in the living water of His Word.  Jesus buffeted the tauntings of Satan in the wilderness with the Word; we must do the same.  Get out your Bible, ask Him to lead your search and then make index cards with scriptures on them that remind you of His power, His grace and His unfailing love.  Get yourself into a good group Bible study either at your church or with a few women in someone’s home.

Listen to me, God’s mercies are new every morning and there is nothing, no – thing, that you have “done” that can separate you from the love of Christ if you are His child (Romans 8:35-39).  He longs to be gracious to you so let Him!  Be washed, be clean…be His.

Lovingly,

Kay
